A slow weekend

The words slow and Roma and H don't usually go together very well but this weekend that is exactly what happened. Friday night we headed out for a few drinks with Mike, Erica and Priti. Saturday we ran a few errands and that was the extent of it! It was unlike any weekend ever! I enjoyed hanging out at home, nice change of pace. It probably was a good thing because we start with Holiday Parties non-stop in a couple of weeks.

Other than that, there has not been a lot going on, I've been very busy at work. I am opening an expansion to my health center in a week, so I have been engrossed in all the work with that, along with just finishing budgeting and working on opening an acute care center. It has been anything but boring!

Today is a day of laying around and doing some work here and there - in between naps of course.
This weekend for Thanksgiving we will be heading to Quincy Wednesday afternoon to celebrate the holiday. I hope everybody has a wonderful week and holiday. Stay safe!

French Wine Class

Last night, H, myself, Erica and Mike headed over to The Porch in Soulard for a French Wine Tasting and Class. We learned about all the different parts of France and her wines. It was very educational and the wine was enjoyable as well! I had never been to this store, and don't know why! It is adorable, they have wine, cute accessories, and personalized items.

Last Friday, H and I headed to Ann Arbor, MI to visit Priti and experience a U of M football game. We had a great time! We got in Friday night and just hung out at her apartment. H and I immediately felt like we went through a time warp back to our college days. It was surreal! The next day we got up bright and early to rain and snow! It was so cold! We got bundled up and headed out to tailgate for the game. This was like nothing I have ever seen before. There were people everywhere, I can't even explain the extent of this. The funny thing is that it was only 50% of normal game days due to the weather. We went to the game for a little while, but since it was so miserable out, we rushed for heat as soon as we could. That night we went to Ann Arbor Brewing Company for dinner and drinks. We then left Sunday morning to head back to the lou. It was quick trip but we had a fabulous time. Thank you Priti and Erin for your hospitality! I wish we could of stayed longer!

New Closets!

Today our closets were done, and I couldn't be happier. The last few days were tiresome in emptying all the closets and living in a mess! Today when I got home, I was a little skeptical on everything fitting, but it was perfect, even with a little extra room (which I did not have before). Here are some before and after pictures. Catch up time!

Well I took a small break from blogging. H and I were both under the weather for a little while, H is still fighting something, hopefully we will get it knocked out soon!

It has been a fairly busy couple of weeks. A quick recap on what we have been doing:

• Organizing the condo before the holidays start (that is a task all in itself)
• I've been studying for the boards
• Justin joined facebook - well I signed him up, but he surprisingly is enjoying it - so proud
• We got iPhones - we have been having a lot of fun playing with them and learning all the cool things they can do
• Shopping! I've had quite the urge for shopping, more than normal, so we have managed to make it to the mall 3 times in the last week
• Cleaning out our closets - this Wednesday St. Louis Closet Co. will be coming to re-do our closets - before and after pictures to come later this week
• H's sister/my sister in law got engaged this past weekend! We are very excited for her and Dan!
• We tried a few new restaurants, Harvest, Agave, and Terrene. They were all amazing, we will definitely going back to all 3 of them.
• Getting ready for our Condo Progressive Dinner - I am on the team for this annual event so preparations have begun!

This weekend we are heading to Michigan to visit Priti and go to MU's final home game of the year, and the last home game while Priti is at Michigan! It should be a fun weekend!

Tomorrow is Diwali, our main Indian Holiday. Every year my parents host a party and pooja (prayer) at our house. Unfortuantely this year, due to some health issues my dad has been having, we had to cancel the party, but we will will be having the prayer potion. I am lucky I get to be home with my parents to celebrate this occasion. I wish my siblings could be home, but it is hard since it is in the middle of the week. I miss them very much during these times when we can't be together. Hopefully next year, all of us can be together!

Here is some information on what Diwali is:


Diwali, also called Deepavali or Divali, is a major Hindu festival that is very significant in Hinduism, Sikhism and Jainism. Known as the "Festival of Lights," it symbolizes the victory of good over evil, and lamps are lit as a sign of celebration and hope for mankind. Celebrations focus on lights and lamps, particularly traditional dīpa (earthen lamp, as illustrated). Fireworks are associated with the festival.

Diwali is a colloquial name used in North India, while the festival is formally called Deepavali(= theepam + oli ), and is called in South India as such.

Diwali is celebrated for five consecutive days at the end of Hindu month of Ashwayuja. It usually occurs in October/November, and is one of the most popular and eagerly awaited festivals in India. Diwali comes exactly twenty days after Dussehra. Hindus and Sikhs alike regard it as a celebration of life and use the occasion to strengthen family and social relationships. For Hindus it is one of the most important festivals, and beginning of the year in some Hindu calendars. There are several beliefs regarding the origin of the holiday. The most repeated version is that Hindus celebrate Diwali to mark the time when Lord Rama achieved victory over Ravana. Some also view it as the day Krishna defeated the demon Narakasura or in honor of the day Bali went to rule the nether-world, obeying the order of Vishnu. It is also a significant festival for the Sikh faith. In India, Diwali is now considered to be more of a national festival, and the aesthetic aspect of the festival is enjoyed by most Indians regardless of faith.
