Deal breaker

In a previous post I had talked about Masulla, a boutique which used to be on Washington Ave., which I loved and closed down. Well, in place of Masulla they are putting in a boutique called Laurie's Shoes. When I first saw this I was very excited, but there is a deal breaker = Fake D&G purses. I was heartbroken, but I have a strong opinion on fake designer bags, and because of that will not buy from that store because who is to say that the rest of the items aren't fake as well!

Ten Years Already

This weekend we had my 10 year high school reunion. I still can't believe it has been 10 years! It was a weekend of reminiscing and spending time with our high school friends. The weekend began on Friday with a Meet and Greet at the Centralia History Museum. The museum holds history of Centralia and some great memorabilia. It was a casual and very fun evening, which ended at the Downtown Lounge, a popular watering hole in C-town. The next day there was a picnic (which I unfortunately did not make), but the weather was beautiful and it was perfect for the event. That afternoon, H and I headed over to the Elks to help set up for the evening festivities. Joe, Chi-ch, H and I worked hard to make sure the hall was up to par for our classmates. Joe supplied some great pictures and high school memorabilia for everybody to look at, which made for some interesting conversation starters as well. We had a great dinner and of course followed by dancing! Along with our reunion festivities, it was so nice to be home for more than 1 day. We were able to spend time with my parents and the Gupta's, who came to visit us from Chicago.

Here are some pics from the weekend! It was so wonderful to catch up with old friends, we have to get together more often then every 10 years! Thanks Joe and Chi-ch for all the planning for a great weekend!

Fun in the Sun

What a fabulous weekend, good weather and a lot of activity! We started off Friday low key, I had to work late so we went to Katie's Pizzeria Cafe, a new pizza parlor in Clayton. If you haven't been there, I would definitely recommend it. Good food and relaxing atmosphere. We both had a pretty long week, so we just relaxed on our deck for the rest of the evening.

Saturday we (H, myself, along with our friends Justin and Katie Venvertloh) began our day with the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure. What an amazing event. Whether you have or have not been affected by breast cancer, this event will touch you very deeply. To see the pink shirts, all those affected by breast cancer and the pure drive of those out there was absolutely amazing. It is something we hope to do for many years to come. I was privileged to do the Race in celebration of Pangarkar Auntie, who is like a second mother to me, and my friend Lianna's Grandmother. They both were diagnosed with Breast Cancer and are survivors.

After an exciting and inspiring morning, H and I headed out to Forest Park to play some golf (I am in the beginning stages). It was quite the event, we began with a beautiful, breezy afternoon, I struggled through the first few holes and then down came the rain, rain and more rain. Eventually it cleared it, and we finished the round. To finish the day, we enjoyed an evening at Jen and Ryan's condo for a bar-b-q.

Today, we decided to re-organize our condo, which has been fun! Re-arranging furniture, hanging pictures and re-painting the half bath! I can't wait until it's all done! All in all it was a great weekend!

"B" Seen on the Boulevard

Last night, Prity, Missy, Jen and myself had a much needed girls night at "B" Seen on the Boulevard in Brentwood. It was so much fun! For $10 you got food from Maggiano's, Nadoz and P.F. Changs, and drinks! The band was great, and the weather was perfect! After we roamed around the boulevard for a while, we went into Maggiano's for an appetizer. They have the most amazing sampler platter, next time you go there, definitely try it! Being a vegetarian, it was nice to order a platter and not have to substitute anything! It was great to catch up, hear all about Jen and Ryan's honeymoon and spend time with good friends! I can't wait until the next one!

Happy Father's Day

Sunday was Father's Day, and we were able to spend it with my parents, cousins and family friends. We missed my father in law, but hope to have many father's day celebrations with both of our father's in the future. We took my dad to one of his favorite restaurants, India Palace, and then spent the day shopping. It was a great day!

Our Neighbor

Wednesday, June 11, our neighbor and dear friend Randy Ford lost his battle with cancer. Randy was one of those people who loved life and lived it to the fullest. He was diagnosed in 2005 with a rare form of cancer called Angiosarcoma, with 3-6 months to live. That was in November of 2005 and because of is will to live, he beat all odds and survived for two and a half years after his diagnosis. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his partner, Charlie and family. I know all of us at the Edison Condos will miss him dearly, he was always a joy to run into and spend time with in our little community. Please visit www.randyford.net to see all the amazing accomplishments and adventures Randy and Charlie had during their time together.

Tornado at Boyscout Camp

The news that a tornado hit a boyscout camp in Iowa is absolutely devastating. Please take a minute to say a prayer for boys, volunteers and their families during this time. Natural disasters are becoming more frequent, and we have to be careful and cautious of our surroundings. Unfortunately there are situations where there is no warning and no escape route for those in route of the disaster.

Date Nights

The last couple of weeks have been kind of crazy, so we haven't had the chance to be creative with our date nights. But, we have a rule that regardless, we will do something, even if it's just ordering pizza and watching tv! Last week and this week, in lieu of going out, due to time constraints, we did our next favorite thing, headed up to the deck on the 13th floor of our building, packed a picnic, grilled out and enjoyed the view and some good wine! It is something we have always enjoyed doing in our building, especially when the weather is nice. If there is a game, you can see what is going on in the stadium, and enjoy the home run fireworks.
