Lions, and Tigers and a Fox - Oh My!

Last night, a group of us went to the Botantical Gardens for their Wednesday night concert series. It was the most beautiful evening, amazing for the end of July. We got our area all set up with food and drinks, and out of no where comes a fox, yes folks a fox. It was just hanging out, listening to the music, trying to get some wine! It was actually pretty scary, especially because there were children and scared adults (me) in the area. We never have a dull moment around here! But, overall it was a very exciting and fun evening! Pictures to come soon, and yes there is one of the fox.

Let's Fight!

Do you ever notice odd things when you are driving? Well, I noticed a very odd thing the other day while driving, a man fighting with a tree! Yes, a tree, that is what I said. I was by Busch Stadium, on my way to work one morning, and look over and a guy was walking and the branch took the hat off his head! Well, he was not going to stand for it, so he started pointing and yelling at the tree, I am lucky I didn't run into the tree with my car because I found it so hilarious! I don't know who won because I couldn't stick around to referee, but I'm sure it was a close call!

Lake of the Ozarks

Last week I had a short week, which was much needed! Thursday night we played our 2nd volleyball game, and we won again! We may have a chance of winning the season, for which the prize is t-shirts and a bucket of beer. Friday I had the day off, which was very relaxing. After a slow moving morning, H and I headed to the Lake of the Ozarks for a weekend of sun and relaxation. One of Justin's childhood friends' parents have a beautiful condo on the lake, and we spent the weekend eating, laying out, eating, relaxing, eating, enjoying some cocktails, and eating! We returned to reality on Sunday afternoon, but very well rested. Sunday evening, Justin's family and my parents came together at our condo for some family fun time! We had wine and pizza and spent some quality time together, which was wonderful. I wish we could do it more often!

I did not take pics this weekend, I was on vacation from my camera, but it's about over! We have a fun week ahead, so stay tuned!

Team Spike Force Pics

As promised, here are some pics from our first volleyball game!

Congratulations to the Shirley's

The weekend of July 11 we all prepared and celebrated for the Reimer/Shirley Wedding Reception. The weekend kicked off with Erica, myself and Jen preparing all the items for the festivities. We had a great time and girls night is always enjoyable! Saturday morning, bright and early, Erica and I headed out to pick up the flowers from the Floral District, then headed off to the Mad Art Gallery (location of the reception) to put our magic to work. Prity met us there to help get the hall set! We had a great time getting everything ready and seeing the transformation of the room! That evening we all got dressed up and headed out to celebrate the start of the new couple's future. The reception was fabulous, there was good music, good food and good company. Following the reception, a group of us headed up to McGurk's to keep the night going, which we did successfully! Sunday was a day of rest, well kind of! I got to sleep in, which was fabulous! Then we headed to the Four Seasons for Sunday brunch with my parents, the Pangarkar's and the Kamat's, some of our favorite people! We had a wonderful time, and how could you not during a 3 hour brunch! The rest of the day we spent shopping and then eventually made it home. I was wiped out! I was ready to get some rest! It took me a couple of days, but I have finally recovered! Congratulations Ryan and Jen, we are so happy for you!

Team Spike Force

From the title you can see that my fear of volleyball has disseminated! It was so fun and we won, which always makes sports more enjoyable! It started out rough but we won 2 our of 3, so not too shabby! I forgot how fun volleyball was, especially in the sand! I can't wait until next Thursday! The only downer was I think I have injured my thumb, all those crazy serves! Pictures to come soon!

Volleyball????

We decided it would be fun this summer to join a volleyball league. With that H did all the work, asked our friends to play and we're set. Now I'm nervous! Tonight is our first game. We are playing at Steinberg in Forest Park, which is a fabulous place to hang out, and WATCH sand volleyball....but now I will have to play. I will have photos to post from this event, hopefully I will not make too big of a fool of myself! Here's to hoping!

Happy Birthday America

It has been a busy few days! Since it was a short week last week, it meant do the same amount of work in a shorter time period, which is always enjoyable! Needless to say, I was excited when Thursday rolled around. It was a fun weekend, here is a rundown:

Thursday, July 3

  • First Friday of the holiday week! Yeah!
  • Friends from Quincy came to visit
  • John Mayer Concert at Verizon Amplitheatre
  • Out to Venice Cafe to meet up with Mike and Erica
Friday, July 4

Happy Birthday America!
  • 2nd Friday of the week!
  • A few of us spent a nice and relaxing day at Mike and Erica's house. There was enough food to feed a small army and plenty of drinks to wash it down with! It was the prefect day with amazing weather!
  • That evening we headed down to the Cubs v Cards game at Busch Stadium. Mike and Justin were happy with the Cubs win, can't say the same for Erica and myself. Unfortunately, Mike ended up not feeling well and headed home for the night. He is feeling better but we were quite worried about him.
  • Justin and I headed up to the 13th floor of our building to watch the fireworks.
Saturday, July 5

  • Finally a day to sleep in!
  • Lunch at Cielo at the Four Seasons
  • If you have not been to the new Four Seasons - it is a must. The lobby is on the 8th floor of the building. We had lunch on the patio, which has the most amazing view in all of St. Louis. It didn't hurt that the food was fabulous as well! After lunch we enjoyed the view with a couple of cocktails and the beautiful weather!
  • After a relaxing afternoon, we went home to figure out our evening plans.
  • We decided to try Mihalis Chop House - it was a great choice! The food again was amazing. It was a good day for eating on our end!
  • After dinner, we headed down to Clayton to Sasha's Wine Bar - again another fun watering hole in the city.
  • Following dinner, H was pretty tired so he went to bed and I went and met up with some friends at the Flamingo Bowl on Washington Avenue.
Sunday, July 6

  • We are still going!
  • If you really know H and I, we don't really sleep in and usually have more energy than we know what to do with. We try very hard to sleep in and hang around the house, but it does not work very well.
  • This Sunday morning, we tried again to lay around and watch TV, at about 10 am we got antsy and decided to get out of the house.
  • Lunch at Canyon Cafe in Frontenac - yum!
  • Shopping at some of my favorite places - Banana Republic, Saks, and J. Crew
  • Movie time - SATC! I loved it even more the 2nd time! Can't wait for it to come out on DVD!
  • More shopping.....
  • Pedicure - it was needed after all the walking we did!
  • Dinner at PF Chang's followed by some ice cream at Cold Stone
  • Home!
All in all it was a very fun weekend, you can see the rest of our pictures here. It was nice to be home and not running all over the place.

Please keep in your thoughts the Shirley Family, our good friend Ryan's mom had a stroke last week and have been quite worried about all of them.

Deal breaker

In a previous post I had talked about Masulla, a boutique which used to be on Washington Ave., which I loved and closed down. Well, in place of Masulla they are putting in a boutique called Laurie's Shoes. When I first saw this I was very excited, but there is a deal breaker = Fake D&G purses. I was heartbroken, but I have a strong opinion on fake designer bags, and because of that will not buy from that store because who is to say that the rest of the items aren't fake as well!
